WHY COLORADO?
I first came to Colorado for World Youth Day in 1993. I didn’t expect a single trip to change my life—but it did.
The mountains were surreal.
Mind-blowing.
What surprised me even more was Denver itself: the neighborly, small-town feel, the warmth of the people—and something I had never experienced in a city before:
You could see the stars at night.
This Miami girl went home and realized she missed the mountains.
I’ve always loved research, writing, and learning. So I studied—Colorado’s history, its civic culture, its cost of living, and its people. What I found was a place where people still mattered—and where voices could be heard.
That belief brought me here.
It’s why I stayed.
And it’s why I serve.
